  • The disadvantages of a G-shaped kitchen

The G-shaped kitchen consists of four runs of kitchen cabinets, one of which is shorter and faces inwards creating a G shape.

In an open-plan kitchen, the shorter run forms a peninsula, which is accessible from three sides and can be used as a seating area.

Thanks to its four runs of cabinets, the G-shaped kitchen usually offers plenty of storage space and worktop area. This additional space is advantageous, especially if there's no pantry.

The G-shaped kitchen almost completely frames the room with runs of kitchen cabinets in the shape of the letter "G".

Advantages of a G-shaped kitchen

  • Plenty of worktop space

  • Extensive potential storage space

  • Efficient kitchen layout (only 6% further distance covered than in a U-shaped kitchen)

  • Version with peninsula also ideal for open-plan living concepts

Disadvantages of a G-shaped kitchen

  • Takes up a lot of space, so not suitable for small rooms

  • Corner storage space can be tricky to access, risking dead space

All the pros and cons at a glance:

  • Lots of storage space and worktop space but also takes up a lot of space

  • Efficientkitchen layout

  • Also a good solution for open-plan living concepts
