  • The advantages of a single run solution

  • The disadvantages of a single run kitchen

As its name aptly suggests, the single run kitchen consists of a single run of kitchen cabinets.

The solution is almost always fitted along one wall, but it can be extended to include features such as a "peninsula" bar protruding from the wall or a serving hatch.

The cabinets and kitchen appliances are all installed along the run, making them easy to access without corners or alcoves – but this does mean walking to and fro between the various zones.

In general, the single run kitchen is considered an economical and space-saving design, but it can of course be upgraded and expanded according to the user's changing requirements. It's also the classic choice for one-bedroom apartments or studios and small households.

A single run kitchen consists of a single run of kitchen cabinets.

Advantages of a single run kitchen

  • Takes up little space, fits into almostany home

  • Budget-friendly layout

  • Easy access to every cabinet and kitchen appliance

  • Serves as a good basisthat can be expanded later on, e.g. by adding an island

Disadvantages of a single run kitchen

  • There's limited space and scope for planning

  • Design makes socialising trickierbecause the kitchen user faces the wall as they cook, with their back to guests

  • Inefficientwhen it comes to moving around the kitchen, with users needing to walk back and forth

All the pros and cons at a glance:

  • Takes up little space, but alsoleaves limited scope for design

  • Tends to be a budget-friendly layout

  • Easy access to all storage items, but lots of to-ing and fro-ing

  • Design makes socialising trickier
