Balance between order and chaos
)
In his daily work, tile designer Sebastian Rauch asks himselfto what extent structure is necessaryso people can thrive. But also how much chaos should be allowed so that new ideas can emerge. When he looks for inspiration, Sebastian Rauch finds it in almost everything he sees – on his travels, in art and in architecture. Much of his inspiration also comes from conversations. The key thing is to remain open and curiousall the time.
For "his" LEGRABOX design, Sebastian Rauch opted for a ceramic relief with a textured finish. "I prefer simple, streamlined designs", he explains. He builds up several layers of a tile before removing them until he is left with a design that he likes. When working with LEGRABOX, he and his team were particularly interested in how the textured elements change shape in the fluctuating light.
