Translating conversations into a design

"The stomach fuels the brain" – Gregor Wenter, hotelier at Bad Schörgau, is certain of this. So when it came time to create his drawer side design for drawers of the LEGRABOX box system, he drew surprising inspiration from the kitchen at his spa hotel.

Bad Schörgau is a spa hotel in South Tyrol's Sarntal Valley. When Gregor Wenter took over running the hotel in 2017, he gave the hotel's services an upgrade and introduced a new catering concept referred to as La FuGa (Laboratory for Future Gastronomy). Alongside sophisticated cuisine, he thinks of new ideas while walking in the mountains. "But mostly, inspiration originates from conversations. I talk to people every day and I find that these conversations need to be translated into design," explains the host, who runs his establishment more like a home than a hotel.

Discussions with his stonemason also had an indirect effect on "his" LEGRABOX design. A design in which he opted for clear, simple shapes that have that certain something. Gregor Wenter formed the idea for this "certain something" from Bad Schörgau's imposing run of stone cabinets, which have a unique feel that served as the inspiration for the texture on the drawer sides.

Bonus storage space

But LEGRABOX isn't just stylish. Thanks to its straight inner wall, the space in the drawer is maximised. Drawers are generally ingenious storage spaces. Because they can be fully extended, they provide convenient access right to the back corners. The drawers should have high side panels so that nothing falls over the sides, and this is how LEGRABOX delivers genuine added space – even in a gourmet kitchen.

Elegance itself: the LEGRABOX special edition drawer side is always carbon black on the inside, while the drawer side exterior is also available in carbon black, with anti-fingerprint stainless steel, a 3D embossed carbon look or noble rust textured coating.

All advantages at a glance:

  • Hotelier Gregor Wenter translates inspiration taken from conversations into designs.

  • And for him, the way to inspiration is also through the stomach

  • Drawers with full extension provide convenient access right to the back corners.

  • Pull-outs with high, closed sides can hold lots of storage items.
